Grants in Action

Find out how other passionate educators have put our grants to work in engaging and inspiring ways.

Grants for Teachers provides grants to individual classrooms, schools, and district-wide that go beyond the limits of schools’ budgets. Through this program, the Foundation provides grants to schools for educational materials, like math manipulatives, outdoor teaching gardens, music technology, CNC machines, and much more! These grants are available to any Wylie ISD school to enhance classroom learning and provide opportunities for students district-wide to participate in enrichment opportunities.

A few highlights of projects that have been powered by Grants for Teachers include:

  • Cox Elementary received $2,500 to purchase and create interactive stations to encourage interactive play and academic materials to support special needs students’ learning.
  • Birmingham Elementary received $3,000 to purchase a book vending machine to foster positive behavior and practice positive reinforcement.
  • Cooper Junior High received $2,000 to purchase four research grade microscopes with digital cameras to allow each science teacher to project real-time images and video of microscopy onto their classroom displays.
  • Harrison Intermediate received $440 to purchase shade for their outdoor learning center so students can use it all year.
  • Davis Intermediate received nearly $2,000 to implement vertical non-permanent surfaces (VNPS) in math classes to foster collaborative learning and encourage students to visualize complex concepts.
  • Wylie High School received $2,500 to purchase scripts, costumes and props to increase student engagement as they connect with the arts.
  • Wylie East High School received $2,900 to purchase welding materials so students can spend more time actively learning than waiting for materials to be available.
